Hello! We are onto week 6 of the Splurge or Save, and this week has a loose theme of tablescaping with a tray. If you're new here, the aim of my weekly challenge is to find an item that has a higher price point—something you might treat yourself to. Then, I find a similar (sometimes identical) version with a lower price tag for those of us who like a bargain or are perhaps renovating on a strict budget.
Round & Rattan:
First up is this beautiful round rattan tray with scallop detailing from Mrs Alice. I would say this is more of a wicker than a rattan personally, but let's not split hairs. This tray comes in at £96.00 and is quite big at 45 cm, meaning you need a large table or footstool.
.I managed to find three options here, all of them, however, only measure 35 cm in diameter. So yes, you may be losing 10 cm, but you are saving some money, and personally, I feel 35 cm is a more practical size. The most similar in colour has to be the £7.99 option from The Range, and the most similar in design is the Matalan version at £12.00. But if you want something where you don’t risk losing a rogue teaspoon or custard cream through the handle gap, the Marks and Spencer £18.00 tray is more enclosed.

Poured & Pink:
These embossed goblet-style wine glasses have been around for years, but they have proven to become a classic. These versions from Not On The High Street are probably the most iconic, and at £16.00 each, they are not too out of the question price-wise for a timeless item.
These are the sort of glasses that you can bring out every year, and retailers produce them year after year. So you would think it would be easy to find some great ‘Save’ versions, wouldn't you? I have found a few close options, with the best being from Matalan; the colour is the closest, but the shape is more similar to those from Habitat. There isn't much difference in the price either, with Matalan coming in at £4.00 per glass and Habitat at £17.00 for a set of four (£4.25 each).

Serving Scallops:
I have coveted this dinner service at Anthropologie for a while, but it's a tie-up in our house between getting another dinner service or Dave divorcing me. Personally, I don’t think you can have enough; you've got to have options for different occasions. Collecting a dinner service can start to add up, though, with plates, side plates, bowls, etc. The Anthropologie dinner service is a splurge item, but it's also a good price point for slow collectors who want to build up a dinner service over time.
If you’re more of an instant person and want the whole dinner collection right away, don’t worry, I've got you covered. Marks & Spencer offer this scalloped range in bowls, dinner plates, and even pasta bowls—though the side plates are sold as a set of four in multicolour. You can buy a dinner service of 16, where you will get four bowls, four plates, and four side plates all in white. H&M also do a full range of items, and whereas their scalloping has more of a ribbed effect, all their dinner service items from this range come in the same colour with no rogue multicolours.
