Jack's Love List #30: 'Shell We Talk Scallops?'
Scalloped edges, timeless charm, modern twist.
If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know I’ve got a bit of a thing for scallops. That soft, curvy edge just brings instant charm—whether it’s on a cushion, a mirror, or a martini glass (yes, really). But this isn’t just a passing trend. Scallops have been having a major resurgence in both interiors and fashion over the past few years, and it’s no surprise—they’re playful, elegant, and add that perfect little detail that makes a piece feel special.
What’s lovely is that scallops aren’t new—they’ve been around since the 1600s, inspired by the frilled clothing of the time. The look carried through the Renaissance and into the Victorian era, with iconic furniture makers like Chippendale weaving them into their designs. A trend with proper heritage!
This week, I’ve rounded up some of my favourite scalloped finds—from bold furniture and joyful tableware to soft furnishings and a mirror you need to see. Let’s get into it…
Side Tables:
Let’s start with side tables—they’re such a great way to add a little accent to a room, and when you throw in a scalloped edge? Instant charm. It adds that extra layer of texture and design detail that draws the eye and makes a piece feel that bit more special.
This natural-toned beauty from Dunelm is the Remi Side Table, and it's part of a whole scalloped range (yes please). The creamy beige finish brings a laid-back, Scandi-meets-cottagecore vibe—perfect styled next to a sofa with a stack of linen cushions or beside the bed with a sweet ruffled lamp. Bonus points: it also comes in a dreamy lily pad green or a soft blush pink if you're craving a gentle pop of colour.
Now, this one’s my cherry-on-top favourite (pun absolutely intended). The Marcie Table from La Redoute is bold, bright, and makes no apologies about it. That vivid cherry red is giving full dopamine décor energy, and because it’s made of metal, it could even live outside on a patio or balcony as a fun, punchy garden moment. It’s also a brilliant multifunctional piece—the top lifts off to reveal a handy scalloped tray, making it just as practical as it is pretty. Style it with candles and a book indoors, or use it to serve drinks alfresco. And if red isn’t your thing, no fear—it also comes in almond, sage green, and a soft peachy pink, so there’s a shade for every space and mood.
Lastly, we’ve got the Henley Side Table from Daals—a slim, elegant little number that would sit beautifully in a hallway or tucked beside your favourite reading chair. The soft sage tone keeps things chic but still playful, and that scalloped skirt detail? Just enough to feel elevated without tipping into OTT. It’s giving Parisian apartment on a budget, which is exactly the kind of energy we love. And just like Dunelm, Daals have gone all-in with the scallop love—the Henley range includes a whole collection of furniture if you’re ready to fully commit (which, obviously, I am).

Trays:
Trays. And yes, I know we featured a scallop tray last week—but it’s the name of the theme this time, and there are just too many good ones to ignore. I’ve picked out a few in different shapes and styles, so there’s something for everyone (and every surface).
First up, a classic rectangular shape in the most glorious punchy cobalt blue. It’s giving bold, joyful, and modern—and currently reduced, which makes it even sweeter. I love the double-wave edging that forms the scallop—so simple but so effective. Style it on a coffee table or console with books, a candle, or even your remote if you're the practical type.
For something a little softer and more neutral, this rattan round beauty from Matalan. I actually have the rectangular version of this and can confirm—it’s a great little piece. Light, versatile, and adds just the right amount of texture to a styled surface. The round version has a softer feel that works beautifully on ottomans or layered with candles and a little bud vase. Bonus: it’s also on sale!
And lastly—possibly my favourite of the bunch—this zesty hexagonal tray in the brightest lemon yellow. It’s the shape for me: that six-sided silhouette paired with scalloped edging is just chef’s kiss. This would be so fun styled with bold taper candles, colourful glassware, or even as a cheerful catchall (keys and posting dumping ground) on a hallway console. Instant joy.

Cushions:
Cushions are always such a great (and inexpensive!) way to refresh a space. Whether you’re renting and can’t paint the walls, or just fancy a seasonal switch-up, they’re the easiest injection of personality, colour, and texture. And you know I’m always here for a statement edge—especially when scallops are involved.
This scalloped stunner from JD Williams comes in navy and white, or pink, but for me, the pink version with its contrasting red stitching is the one. It’s playful, punchy, and gives big boutique hotel energy. The bold combo makes it feel designer, but without the price tag. A fabulous little pop on a bed or sofa.
Can we take a moment to celebrate the return of Marks & Spencer Home online? They’re really having a moment, and this 100% cotton cushion is proof. My favourite is the pale blue with that soft coral embroidered scallop hem, but it comes in a few lovely colourways if you fancy mixing and matching. The quality feels way more luxe than the price suggests—perfect for layering on a bed or armchair.
If you’re looking to bring a little scalloped personality into the bedroom, this pillowcase from La Redoute is such a winner. The scallop detailing adds a soft, decorative edge to otherwise plain bedding, and the colour options are subtle enough to mix with what you already own. Just that little touch of texture and detail makes a big difference—especially if you’re going for a serene, styled-up sleep space.

Table Ware:
Why not put two of my passions together—scallops and tableware? Honestly, this section could go on and on (and on), but I’ve shown incredible restraint and narrowed it down to just three fabulous finds.
These pink martini glasses tick every box—fun colour, gorgeous shape, and the perfect price point. They feel like they belong on a balcony somewhere fabulous, filled with something fizzy. The scalloped detailing is subtle but seriously stylish. Cocktail night? Upgraded.
I adore these embroidered placemats from Primark Home—I actually put in a click and collect the second I saw them. The colour combos are delicious, and the tiny embroidered typography ("Cin Cin" and "Love at first bite") adds the sweetest little touch. At £5 for a pair, they’re an absolute bargain and bring serious charm to any table setting.
If, like me, you're big on scallops and waves, this 12-piece dinner set from Dibor is well worth a look. The wavy, organic edges give the whole set a sculptural, elevated feel—and for £115, it’s not much more than what you’d pay for a standard dinner service, but with 100% more personality. The creamy neutral tone works year-round, styled up with linen napkins or paired back with rustic cutlery. An elegant, everyday statement.

Misc:
To finish off this week’s scallop celebration, here are a few final pieces I’m loving—proof that scallops really do work everywhere, from underfoot to on the wall.
Let’s start with the Lois Rug from Dunelm—an absolute beauty in creamy neutrals and that on-trend lilac. It comes in a few colour options (including green and white, or an all-cream version), but the lilac is my current crush. What I love most is that the scallop pattern is woven into the rug itself, rather than sitting on the edge—so it feels considered, elevated, and a bit different. And as always, when it comes to rugs: bigger is better.
Storage can be functional and fun—and these scalloped storage boxes from Dunelm are proof. They’re a brilliant alternative to your standard cube storage box or basket, and that bold blue trim adds a fresh twist (think cube storage, but 2025-approved). They also come in all-natural or with a pink edge if blue isn’t your vibe. Perfect for kids’ rooms, shelves, or anywhere that needs a little organisation with flair.
And rounding things off: a surprise winner from George at ASDA. This bottle green floral mirror is so good—the colour is rich and moody, the shape is playful, and it feels way more expensive than it is. It’s the perfect finishing touch for a hallway, bedroom, or that empty wall that’s been begging for something with a bit of character.
