Jack's Love List #22: Homesense & T K Maxx
Celebrating a year of Substack, treasuring hunting online...
Wow – I can’t quite believe I’ve been on Substack for a whole year now!
First of all, a huge thank you to every one of you for following along on this little journey. We kicked things off with ‘Splurge or Save’, and now we’re firmly in my Love List era – so what better way to celebrate a year of the blog than with a round-up from one of my all-time favourite stores: TK Maxx/Homesense.
If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you’ll know this is one of my happy places. You never quite know what you’ll find – and that’s half the magic. So, let’s dive in.
Big Brands:
(Don’t worry – not everything here comes with a luxury price tag!)
That said, I had to start with some of the big names currently in stock, because there are some top-tier treasures to be found. I’m talking Diptyque, La Mer, and Tom Ford – three of my absolute favourites.
Let’s start with Diptyque: the 190g candles usually retail for £58.00 and very rarely get discounted. TK Maxx has a few scents in at the moment – including two of my personal favourites, Oud and Geranium – at £44.99 each. That’s nearly 25% off RRP, which is quite the find.

Then there’s La Mer – the crème de la crème of skincare. They currently have both the Intense Eye Balm and Moisturising Cream in stock. But, a real find is non-other than Mr Tom Ford. His Private Blend Neroli Portofino is one of his most popular fragrances – I’ve owned it myself and can confirm it’s beautiful. There’s a 30ml bottle available for £99.99 – about £45 cheaper than usual – and the smaller size is perfect for travel (plus, that mini bottle is just so cute).

Rugs:
I’ve had some brilliant rug finds at Homesense over the years – the one at the top of my landing is still one of my most asked-about pieces. So of course I had to include rugs in this round-up.
First up: this jute scallop-edged beauty. You know I love a scallop! At 213cm x 152cm, it’s a great size, and the combination of scalloped edging and linear detailing gives it an elevated look – and all for £99.99.

Another standout: Agni’s ‘En Bloc’ collection. I was instantly drawn to the tiger-on-floral design – it reminded me of Suzani embroidery you’d find in Greece or Turkey. The whole piece is beautifully embroidered, giving it texture and character. It’s 91cm x 52cm and just £39.99 – I don’t know where I’d put it, but I feel like I need it.
And since we chatted about coastal trends last week, I couldn’t leave out this embroidered lobster design, also from ‘En Bloc’. It’s moments like this I wish I had a beach house.

Beautiful Blankets:
Every accent chair needs an accent blanket, right? This floral quilted number by Artistic Accent is a total dream for £24.99. The block-print pattern, vintage charm and bright primary colours make it perfect for summer. The fabric feels a bit like a soft muslin that’s been quilted – hard to describe, but trust me, it’s lovely.

Then there are these scallop-edged throws – available in coral and yellow. Both are reduced (coral: £11, yellow: £13), and feature floral patterns with exaggerated scallop detailing. They’d add a great pop of colour and visual interest to any room.

Cute Cushions:
You didn’t think I’d forget cushions, did you? TK Maxx and Homesense are famous for their soft furnishing aisles – like a rainbow made of cushions.
It was hard to narrow it down, but one that really stood out to me was a beautiful oblong statement cushion from Wylder featuring ruffles, stripes, florals and a leopard – honestly, it couldn’t be more “me” if it tried.

I also spotted a white cushion with embroidered cherries, which would layer up beautifully with the Rachael Zoe oblong embroidered cushion. The mix of shapes and textures, combined with that pretty pink and neutral palette and pops of colour, makes them such a perfect pairing. The Rachael Zoe cushions also come in different slogans, so definitely have a look if you're into a playful mix-and-match moment.

Inbedible Bedspreads:
Now, I’m very much a white bedding sort of guy. There’s nothing I love more than a crisp white sheet, plump white cushions, and a beautifully sleek plain white duvet cover. But layered on top? That’s where I like to add a bit of personality—with an accent bedspread. One that really caught my eye was by Catherine Lansfield: a vibrant floral design in vivid yellow, blue, and green that instantly lifts a space. I especially love the contrast of the vivid green piping—it makes the whole thing pop. At £34.99 for a 220cm x 230cm size, it’s a great way to inject colour and energy into a bedroom without having to touch the paint or wallpaper.

Coastal is clearly following me around at the moment, as I spotted two gorgeous bedspreads by Sigrid Olsen. The first is a soft blue-and-white design with a subtle shell pattern, finished with a wave-style scallop edge. It’s the largest of the lot at 220cm x 240cm, making it ideal if you want that generous overhang for a more luxurious look. The second has a white base with a taupe seaweed pattern, but could just as easily be interpreted as vines or a wiggly stripe—it’s wonderfully subtle and would work in all kinds of schemes. Both of these have a slightly more relaxed, breezy vibe, perfect if you're leaning into that laid-back coastal feel.

Lovely Lamps:
Good lamps can be hard to find these days – especially statement ones. While standard and floor lamps are rarer in-store (thanks to space), always check online – the selection is huge.
My current crush? This turquoise bobbin floor lamp – it’s got that high-lacquered finish and comes in one of my favourite jewel tone shades of green.

I also spotted these little monochrome numbers with a traditional turned wood-style base. But it was the shades that really stood out – they look super high-end, especially considering they’re only £29.99.

Scallop Splurge or Save:
Since it’s the blog’s anniversary, it wouldn’t be right not to throw in a little Splurge or Save, would it?
I found this playful pink wiggly mirror for just £12.99 – it’s 51cm wide, which is a great size for the price. I assumed it would be a tiny accent mirror, but no – it’s substantial. For comparison, the Relviora version (which is very similar) retails at £104.95 on sale!

Fashion Finds:
And finally, a couple of fashion picks…
The Marc Jacobs Tote Bag is such a summer staple – perfect for beach days or everyday wear. They’ve got it in a few colours at the moment, with the large size in black and beige retailing for £179.99 – a total bargain.

Also: did you know TK Maxx online has a pre-loved designer section? They stock authenticated second-hand handbags from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Céline, and more – plus jewellery from the likes of Chanel and Dior. Definitely worth a browse if you’re a collector. I spotted a vintage, discontinued Louis Vuitton wallet that’s hard to come by – a true gem.
